Teaming up with The Expendables for a show at the end of the month, Matt, Mike, Bob and Pat took some time to talk with the Star about their music and future.

Harris: Can you talk about where the name of the band came from and how the group initially formed?

Thirty Second Pulse:Our band was formed in the Spring of '08 to create original music that's definitive to our own unique sound. Matt and Mike Giuggio (brothers) united with Bob Dinan and Pat Ryan to form Thirty Second Pulse. We are now defining the name.

Like a band itself, a band name also needs to be unique, definitive to a sound and to capture the personalities of each member. There is also a kind of unexplainable magic in the number three, so the name Thirty Second Pulse, along with our music, has the potential to define a sound and separate us from the plethora of other bands competing for listeners. First the band united, then the name was found, now we are evolving the sound. We will not stop.

Harris: What was the last album you released, is there another coming anytime soon?

Thirty Second Pulse:Our full-length debut album is being released this summer. We are currently recording at sub_rhythm studios. Be sure to check for album cuts on our website ( www.thirtysecondpulse.com ).

Harris: Who are your musical influences (bands that have influenced you)?

Thirty Second Pulse:Radiohead, The Beatles, Wilco, Phish, The Police, Guster… As a group of musicians this list is constantly growing as we seek out new inspiration through art.

Harris: Do you have any non-musical influences?

Thirty Second Pulse:Family & Friends.

Harris: Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years?

Thirty Second Pulse:Playing music for our fans and putting on great live shows. Writing and releasing original material.

Harris: What bands have you shared the stage with? Any favorite tours or stories?

Thirty Second Pulse:This is still the beginning of the journey...

Harris: Do you have a wish-list of bands to play with in the future?

Thirty Second Pulse:That is kind of a funny question to answer... any artists who appreciate original music. Our dream show would be at Madison Square Garden.

Harris: What advice would you give other artists just starting in the industry now?

Thirty Second Pulse:Don’t play covers, stay true to your art. Getting big over night now takes 10 years. Network properly, and surround yourself with quality people. Understand everything about your mission and how you are going to get there, have the end in mind.
