It Dies Today have come a long way since their formation in August of 2001 in Buffalo, New York. The three boys mixed their love for hardcore metal sounds with the melodic chorus, reminiscent of such great bands as Atreyu and As I Lay Dying to create a great sound that has gotten them to where they are now.
It was their second EP, titled, “Forever Scorned”, released in 2002, that got them the notice they needed to set off on their first ever full US tour with bands, Between the Buried and Me and Alexisonfire. It Dies Today has already had a full tour under the belt before they were signed with hardcore music label, Trustkill Records, home to bands, Eighteen Visions and Bleeding through.
Now a signed band, the boys were ready to release their first full length album, “The Catliff Choir”, which led to attention from the fans as well as the media. The album sold over 25,000 copies within the first four months of its release. This widespread love for It Dies Today was what allowed the band to achieve two sold out national headlining tours, as well as the “Band to Know” in 2005 given to them by Alternative Press magazine.
It Dies Today spent the following year touring vigorously before returning to the studio to record sophomore album, “Sirens” which was released in October 2006. This album was followed yet again by another US tour as well as a stint on the ever popular Vans Warped Tour.
The guys have spent the last year and a half mostly working on their third album, “Lividity” with mild touring throughout. The album was released on September 15, 2009. It has been announced that It Dies Today will be playing at Australia’s Soundwave Festivle in 2010. If you can’t make it to Australia be sure to catch them when they come through the Webster Underground on September 11, supported by, Arsonists Get All The Girls, The Destro, The Last Manifest, and Antilove.
